Originally released in 1993 on Silent Records/Flask Records, 199303: A Collection Of Technologically Advanced Trax was supposed to be a compilation of like-minded artists from the San Francisco Bay Area who had all been influenced by the classic Chicago acid house. In actuality, all the songs were done by Adam Douglas and Thad Jones, better known as the 303 Terrorists.
Douglas and Jones met at a rave in San Francisco in 1992 and not long after started making music together, having discovered their shared love of techno and acid house. Through a chain of events too fantastical to be believed, their demo tape landed on the desk of Kim Cascone at Silent Records and the rest, as they say, is some kind of history.
Adam Douglas now records as Kemek.
